Accident Leaves Thousands Without Power

An accident Friday just before noon near 13th and Lockport left thousands without power Friday.

Police says that a driver was traveling north on 13th Street when she lost control and hit the curb and eventually hit supporting lines of a power poll.

The accident caused power lines to break and arch shutting down a major power transformer.

Nearly 5,000 customers from Terre Haute to Riley were without power.

The woman was taken to the hospital but did not suffer serious injuries.
