Putnam County based Dixie Chopper has been acquired by Jacobsen, a Textron Inc. company.
Dixie Chopper makes heavy duty zero-turn mowers known for their speed.
Jacobsen will continue to operate Dixie Chopper out of the company's Indiana facilities in Fillmore and Greencastle, and the existing Dixie Chopper management team will join Jacobsen.
Dixie Chopper was founded in 1980 by current Chairman Art Evans and provided the first zero-turn lawn mowers built specifically for commercial mowing contractors.
Jacobson also builds turf mowers primarily for the commercial industrial market.
