Rascal Flatts ' latest single, "Rewind," brings to mind that long-forgotten chore of waiting for a cassette or VHS tape to reload so you could enjoy your favorite song or movie again and again. For Flatts lead singer Gary LeVox , the song he kept pressing rewind on was Michael Jackson 's "Thriller" while guitarist Joe Don Rooney constantly watched his tape of The Bad News Bears . The word "rewind" makes bass player Jay DeMarcus think of the 1992 romantic comedy, The Cutting Edge .

"My sister loved it," Jay says with a laugh. "We wore that out. You remember D.B. Sweeney when he played the hockey player that got hurt and became the figure skater."

Jay recalls renting a ton of VHS tapes from video stores like Blockbuster, but he wasn't good about returning them on time.

Says Jay, "I just usually threw them away after they got to a certain point. Found another video store to go get another card at, because you couldn't go in the one that you had the fee outstanding at."

He adds with a laugh, "I'm gonna get a bill in, like, a year for $4,780."

"Rewind" is the lead single from Rascal Flatts' new album, due out later this year.
